Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., is facing an investigation from the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Ethics, multiple sources report.

According to a press release from the Committee on Ethics, the “Acting Chairwoman and Acting Ranking Member of the Committee on Ethics have jointly decided to extend the matter regarding Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, which was transmitted to the Committee by the Office of Congressional Ethics on June 23, 2022.”

Per The Post Millennial, Ocasio-Cortez previously faced ethics complaints regarding allegations of illegally funneling PAC money to her boyfriend.

Via the press statement from the committee:

“The Committee notes that the mere fact of a referral or an extension, and the mandatory disclosure of such an extension and the name of the subject of the matter, does not itself indicate that any violation has occurred, or reflect any judgment on behalf of the Committee.

The Committee will announce its course of action in this matter following its organizational meeting and adoption of Committee Rules in the 118th Congress.”

The Washington Examiner further reported that last year, Ocasio-Cortez came under fire from the Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust for a potential ethical violation in connection with the Democrat representative’s attendance at the 2021 Met Gala.

Per Fox News, tickets to the event cost a minimum of $30,000, and the representative allegedly accepted a free ticket to attend.

Ocasio-Cortez also infamously wore a dress to the event emblazoned with blood-red letters that spelled, “TAX THE RICH.”

However, it is unclear what the Committee on Ethics is investigating the congresswoman for, and whether it has anything to do with the Met Gala, despite media speculation.

Per the committee’s statement, the investigation of the yet-undisclosed matter will continue in 2023 in the new 118th Congress, as Republicans begin the new year as the majority party in the House. Americans can expect more details to emerge as the investigation unfolds.
