Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis landed on TIME’s 100 Most Influential People list, confirming his growing influence within the Republican Party and nationally.

TIME magazine released the list of people divided into six categories: artists, innovators, titans, leaders, icons, and pioneers. DeSantis appeared under “leaders” with former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush honoring the first-term governor’s accomplishments.

“During the pandemic, most people stayed home, and those who didn’t probably moved to Florida. Despite relentless criticism, Governor Ron DeSantis kept schools open, ensured Florida’s economy remained open for business, and allowed individuals to determine their own risk tolerance,” Bush wrote. “His approach works. It’s one that has allowed Florida to emerge from the pandemic as a national model of personal freedom, economic growth, environmental protection, and education excellence.”

The former governor continued highlighting Florida’s triumphs under DeSantis, including “record population growth, unemployment remains below the national average, the private sector is growing, and Florida remains a national leader in school choice.”

Bush also acknowledged DeSantis’ environmental efforts to “restore America’s Everglades, preserve and expand wildlife corridors, and protect Florida’s precious waterways.”

DeSantis’ growing recognition as a dominant force to be reckoned with comes amid his reelection bid for a second term as governor.

DeSantis is just what Florida needs for the next four years as the economy thrives under his leadership.

He recently announced that due to the state’s booming economy, Florida’s reserves are reported at $20 billion for the current fiscal year, with the state’s revenues exceeding pre-pandemic estimates by more than $8 billion.

On top of that, Florida has added jobs for 24 consecutive months and maintained unemployment below the national rate for 17 months.

“By keeping our economy open, maintaining a low tax environment, and being fiscally responsible, Florida’s budget reserves have never been stronger,” DeSantis said. “While Washington, D.C., has consistently gotten things wrong, Florida has consistently done things right.”

The governor also signed the most significant tax relief package in the state’s history earlier this month.

DeSantis’ approval rating remains high ahead of midterm elections, signaling another sensational four years under the conservative governor.
