Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., is reportedly eyeing a potential 2024 presidential bid, according to Ed Henry, a correspondent for Real America’s Voice.
“I’m not cheerleading Ron DeSantis,” he stated during a live interview prefacing his report. He clarified, “I’m reporting what I’ve heard.”
“I know someone who’s a very prominent Republican donor – hedge fund kind of world, lot of money. And he got a real interesting call recently from a man named Ron DeSantis…six months ago if you would have asked me I would have said, ‘DeSantis is young, he’s not gonna run against Trump. He’s gonna wait it out.’ This call that happened a few weeks ago – Ron DeSantis said, ‘I’m likely to run, keep your powder dry, don’t give everything to Trump. I want you, I need you in my corner.’”
Gov. DeSantis has become a wildly popular leader in Florida and is well known for his unflinching conservative stances on economic policies as well as social policies. He has been unafraid to go head-to-head with the Biden administration on issues like immigration and Covid regulations.
Interestingly, even Tesla CEO Elon Musk seemed to lend his support for a potential 2024 presidential bid from Gov. DeSantis, stating on Twitter that “DeSantis has a better chance of winning” when it came down to Musk’s alternate candidate choice, Andrew Yang.
While many conservative voters are eager to see President Donald Trump run for president in 2024, neither Trump nor DeSantis have officially announced any plans. However, it is important to note that Gov. DeSantis is currently seeking reelection in November and will probably win in a landslide due to his overwhelming popularity with Floridians.
“I just know for a fact that in private, Ron DeSantis is making the calls,” Ed Henry continued. “He’s reaching out. ‘What are you hearing? Would you be with me? Could I count on your support?’ [It] doesn’t mean he’ll definitely run. It might mean he’s on the diving board checking it out.”
