Florida Governor Ron DeSantis blasted Biden over his endorsement of “muzzling” kindergarteners with masks as the White House continues to allow swarms of COVID-positive migrants storm the U.S. southern border.
DeSantis made those remarks during an interview with Mark Levin on Tuesday saying, “If you have a loved one overseas, they may not let them come and fly, just normal travel. Because of COVID, they’ll claim.”
“But yet, if you want to just come straight across that border and have thousands of people pouring in,” DeSantis continued, “They don’t give a damn about COVID at that point. They’re letting them right in.”
The governor’s comments come as border patrol officials allegedly released a group of COVID-positive migrants into a Texas border town without informing the local police department.
According to the La Joya Police Department, several of the illegal immigrants were released to local hotels through the work of charities just days after being apprehended.
The Biden administration has come under fire in recent months for its handling of the humanitarian crisis at the border, which continues to exhaust resources and border patrol while also posing what many dub a growing public health crisis.
Meanwhile, the Centers for Disease Control reversed course this week suggesting children and adults, regardless of vaccination status, should wear masks indoors in COVID hotspots.
This recommendation includes schools and has ignited frustration among parents as they grapple with potentially masking their children before sending them back to school in the fall.
Despite CDC guidance, state and local officials across the nation will be able to determine whether students and teachers will be required to mask up before coming back to the classroom.
