Momentum for football legend and Senate hopeful Herschel Walker has risen since the start of his runoff campaign against Georiga Democrat Sen. Raphael Warnock
As first reported by Fox News, the Walker campaign has raised $11 million in fundraising since last Wednesday, following Election Day. Figures shared by the outlet revealed that roughly $8 million of the haul came between the first two days of the runoff campaign.
Walker also released his first TV ad of the runoff campaign titled “Top Notch,” starting his long-time friend Joseph Sumner, Fox further reported.
“Herschel is one of the most genuine people that I think you’ll ever meet,” Sumner says in the ad. “The quality and the fabric of the man is top-notch and his values have been formed in small town Wrightsville, Georgia. And those are good values.”
The Peach State is home to one of the most competitive Senate races of the 2022 midterms, a seat Republicans need to at least be on equal footing with Democrats in an evenly divided Senate. However, both Warnock and Walker failed to obtain at least 50 percent of the vote on election night, sending the race into overtime, per The Hill. The runoff election on Dec. 6 will ultimately settle whether a Democrat or Republican will win the last undetermined Senate seat.
Moreover, Fox News revealed that the Republican National Committee (RNC) is fighting hard to oust Warnock, sending more than 300 party officials and staffers to Georgia in support of Walker.
“Republicans from across the ecosystem are united in our support for Herschel Walker and his runoff election,” RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel told the outlet. “Our staff and volunteer network, along with our paid voter contact and Election Integrity program, will only continue to grow in the coming weeks to deliver a historic win for Georgia Republicans.”
