Ohio Republican Senate candidate J.D. Vance is beginning to experience the positive effects of an endorsement from President Donald J. Trump. Since receiving the 45th president’s support, Vance’s campaign has seen a 300 percent increase in online donations, according to a report from Just the News.

In April, President Donald Trump endorsed J.D. Vance in an official statement through his Save America PAC, calling him “the best chance for victory.” Trump continued, “J.D. will destroy him [Democrat opponent] in debates and will fight for the MAGA movement in the Senate.”

Trump’s move to endorse J.D. Vance, who is also the author of “Hillbilly Elegy,” was a surprising twist in a Senate race that had so far seen no one emerge as a clear frontrunner.

On Saturday night, President Trump held a Save America rally in Delaware, Ohio, and encouraged Ohioans to cast their votes for J.D., despite Vance’s previous comments toward the 45th president – which were negative.

“He’s a guy that said some bad sh*t about me…he did,” Trump told the crowd. “But you know what? Every one of the others did also. In fact, if I went by that standard, I don’t think I would have endorsed anybody in the country.” Trump added, “Ultimately, I put that aside…We have to pick somebody that can win.”

Vance took the rally stage after Trump’s comments and acknowledged his past remarks. He told the audience, “The president is right – I wasn’t always nice…but the fact is, he’s the best president of my lifetime, and he’s revealed the corruption like no other president.”

According to the Just the News report, Vance’s campaign has hauled $5 million since Trump’s endorsement in April. Vance will face off against fellow Republican candidate for Senate and former state treasurer Josh Mandel. Currently, Mandel holds a slight lead in the race, but the gap is closing quickly.
