Chicago Democrat Mayor Lori Lightfoot used inflammatory rhetoric on Monday to rally her supporters against the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS). “To my friends in the LGBTQ+ community – the Supreme Court is coming for us next,” she stated. “This moment has to be a call to arms.”

Lightfoot was referring to the leaked draft opinion that suggests the court may overturn Roe v. Wade in June. The Chicago mayor seems to be asserting that the precedent set by the decision would somehow affect LGBTQ community rights.

The hypocrisy, however, of leftist Mayor Lightfoot is hard to ignore. On Jan. 6, 2021, she tweeted a hefty criticism of the “violent” insurrection occurring at the U.S. Capitol. She stated: “Shame on every elected official in Congress and elsewhere who fomented this anti-democratic insurrection by extremists. This is not a democracy. This is a disgrace.”

Lightfoot is sounding a “call to arms” over a decision that SCOTUS has not yet made. Many Americans are likely wondering why politicians like Lightfoot can make inflammatory comments that may incite violent reactions from her constituents – while simultaneously accusing American citizens on the political right of violent insurrection.

Lightfoot added on her Twitter, “We will not surrender our rights without a fight – a fight to victory!”

However, it is unclear if she is referring to the fight with SCOTUS regarding Roe. Wade or if she’s referring to an LGBTQ-related policy decision.

Republican candidate for U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania, Kathy Barnette, remarked on Twitter that, “Issuing a ‘call to arms’ to millions is nothing short of a terroristic threat. For a woman with so much blood on her hands due to the gun violence she allows in Chicago, she’s going to cause even more death. Issuing terroristic threats is a crime!”

It begs the question: why are leftist politicians allowed to make inflammatory comments online without fear of being censored? Why are they allowed to push a lopsided narrative of violence against their political opponents while seemingly engaging in violent-affirming behavior themselves? Why won’t public figures like Lightfoot call out the radical protesters who are camped outside of the private homes of the Supreme Court justices following the leaked draft opinion?

“Meanwhile,” conservative pundit Benny Johnson remarked on Tuesday on Twitter, “the White House is refusing to condemn protesters showing up to the private homes of the Justices. Democrats are telling us exactly what they want.”
