March for Life held as Americans anticipate possible end of Roe v. Wade

As Americans await the monumental decision of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization in the coming months, tens of thousands of Americans are marching in the nation’s capital today for the annual March for Life.

Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King’s niece, Alveda C. King, stated before the 2022 March for Life, “God’s word and science agree: Human life begins in the womb. For 49 years, the flawed ruling of Roe v. Wade has denied pre-born babies the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”

The 2022 March for Life is expected to be more significant than previous years due to public expectation of the Supreme Court’s major ruling on abortion in the coming months. Pro-life advocates are hopeful that this year could be the last year that March for Life will occur under the current law of Roe v. Wade.

Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo voiced his support for March for life, stating, “Today Americans from all walks of life will join in unity to be one powerful voice for the voiceless.” He added, “Thank you to everyone participating in the @March_for_Life today in hopes of overturning Roe v. Wade.” He concluded his statement, urging, “We must always protect the right to life.”

While the Supreme Court considers a direct challenge to Roe v. Wade, pro-life advocates continue to make stands for the lives of the unborn. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, voiced his support for the pro-life movement and reminded Americans of his commitment to the unborn, saying, “Today is the 49th @March_for_Life. I’m proud to be #prolife and I will continue to fight with you to defend the right to life.”

March for Life President Jeanne Mancini told Fox News, “Our mission at the March for Life is to create a culture where abortion is unthinkable.” She added, “Our work is far from over.”

Two years ago, President Trump made history as the first president to attend the March for Life, symbolizing immense support for the pro-life movement.

In his speech, the 45th president said, “It is my profound honor to be the first president in history to attend the March for Life.” Trump, who has been the most vocal pro-life president in history, explained the reason for March for life, saying, “We’re here for a very simple reason: to defend the right of every child, born and unborn, to fulfill their God-given potential.”

Since the time of President Trump’s speech at the March for Life two years ago, the pro-life movement has continued to gain momentum in America, leading many believing that this year could be the end of Roe v. Wade once the Supreme Court reaches a decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization.

This year’s March for Life on Capital Hill features speakers such as actor Kirk Cameron, U.S. Rep. Christ Smith, R-N.J., Lisa Robertson from “Duck Dynasty,” and Rep. Julia Letlow, R-La. Grammy-nominated Matthew West is set to perform at the event as well. With crowds expected to come in massive numbers to show a united protest against Roe v. Wade, this year’s March for Life will certainly be memorable.
