Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., took to the House floor Tuesday to speak out against what she described as a “two-tiered justice system” that favors Democrats.

Discussing crimes committed against her that were referred to the DOJ by Capitol Police, the congresswoman said: “The Department of Justice is refusing to prosecute these crimes. This is another example of the two-tiered justice system that we are living under right now under the Biden Department of Justice and Democrat leadership.”

The crimes in question, according to Greene, involved the vandalism and theft of a sign she hangs outside of her office, which asserts that there are only two genders.

“It’s a simple truth that is an example of what I believe based on my Christian faith, based on what the Bible says in Genesis – that God created us in his image, male and female he created us,” Greene said.

The sign, she added, has been stolen twice and vandalized nine times. One incident involved the placement of a picture of Jesus on the sign with the sentence, “I never knew you, MTG.”

“I felt very unsafe,” she explained. “I felt my life was in danger, especially with the amount of death threats that I receive against myself and my family.”

Noting that the Capitol Police had initially refused to tell her the culprit’s name, Greene said she eventually discovered that it was Tim Hysom, chief of staff for Democrat Rep. Jake Auchincloss of Massachusetts.

Notably, per Just The News, police and Auchincloss confirmed Monday that the congressman’s office was also involved in letting Stephen Colbert’s production team into the Capitol complex last week, eventually resulting in several arrests.

Hysom, Greene said, was caught on camera defacing her sign in March, after which Capitol Police referred him to the DOJ for prosecution for destruction of private property. However, Greene was later notified that the U.S. attorney’s office would not be prosecuting Hysom. According to Just the News, the reason given was that the attorney’s office did not think a federal judge would allow the case to proceed.

“And this is from our Department of Justice,” Greene noted. “The same Department of Justice that is not prosecuting people that are harassing our Supreme Court justices, breaking federal law. The same Department of Justice that is not keeping our border safe. … The same Department of Justice that isn’t prosecuting crime apparently anywhere because crime is out of control.”

Recently, the DOJ has come under fire from conservatives for its handling of several law enforcement matters, including protests outside the homes of Supreme Court justices, the border crisis, the politically motivated investigations into President Donald Trump, and the Jan. 6 Capitol riots.

Contending that there was a clear double standard between the treatment of her harasser and that of the Jan. 6 prisoners, Greene said: “If you’re one of those [Jan. 6] people, they are prosecuting you to the hilt – and some of them are rotting in the D.C. jail now. If you’re a Republican member of Congress, and someone is stalking, harassing, attacking your gender, attacking your religion, they drop the charges. You see, that is a two-tiered justice system, and I can’t imagine why we’re allowing that to happen.”

Closing her remarks, Greene cautioned her colleagues: “We’re gonna hit a point one day when the American people, not only are they sick of us, but they just won’t trust us anymore. And you wanna know something? I don’t blame them one single bit.”
