Project Veritas released a video exposing incumbent Democrat Gov. Phil Murphy for wanting to mandate the Covid-19 vaccine in the state of New Jersey if he is re-elected.
The footage was released after Wendy Martinez, a senior strategist for the Murphy campaign, told the undercover journalist that if the campaign had released his stance on mandates, it would have hurt their votes with Independents and swing voters, according to Fox News.
She said that the campaign had a secret fear that undecided voters would break for Ciattarelli if Murphy’s stance was released, “because they’re into all that s—, ‘my rights, my s—.’”
Martinez continued, “He’s [Phil Murphy] going to do it [vaccine mandates], but he couldn’t do it before the elections.”
“This extremely disturbing video appears to confirm what the Murphy campaign has been hinting at — and the NJGOP has been warning about — throughout the summer: that a second Murphy term will bring about the same type of vaccine passports seen in Bill de Blasio’s New York, burdening already suffering businesses and discriminating against minority communities in which immunization rates are lower,” NJGOP Executive Director Tom Szymanski said, according to Fox News.
Murphy is running for re-election against Jack Ciattarelli, the Republican nominee. New Jersey has been a solid state for the Democrats, as President Trump lost the state by nearly 16 points in the 2020 election.
Polls indicate Murphy is at a nine-point advantage among likely voters. However, this recent exposure could be the boost that Ciattarelli needs to cinch the gubernatorial nomination.
