Poll shows most Americans are sick and tired of cancel culture

For years, Democrats have used cancel culture as a way to bully Americans into compliance, but after it ruined everything from comedy to sports, the people seem to be rejecting it.

71 percent of likely U.S. voters say they strongly believe cancel culture has gone too far, according to a new Hill-HarrisX poll.

Hill-HarrisX interviewed 930 registered voters online at the beginning of November, and found a pattern of opposition across the political spectrum, with 76 percent of Republicans, 70 percent of Democrats, and 68 percent of independents, tired of cancel culture.

The poll used the Merriam-Webster definition of cancel culture which is “the practice or tendency of engaging in mass canceling as a way of expressing disapproval and exerting social pressure.”

Evidence of cancel culture’s growing cancer on society can be found simply in the responses to Christian actor Chris Pratt posting on Instagram about meeting his wife at church.

“The real political divide in America can be summed up by whether you think this post from Chris Pratt comes off as sweet snd normal or Cringe and insane,” one supporter lobbying for the canceling of Pratt posted on Twitter.

And it’s not just right-leaning Christians who are upset about how cancel culture has taken root, left-wing actress Madonna is even decrying cancel culture. She said in a recent interview that it has led to the death of debate.

“The censoring that’s going on in the world right now, that’s pretty frightening,” Madonna told V magazine. “No one’s allowed to speak their mind right now. No one’s allowed to say what they really think about things for fear of being canceled, cancel culture. In cancel culture, disturbing the peace is probably an act of treason.”

“The way people think about the pandemic, for instance, that the vaccination is the only answer or the polarization of thinking you’re either on this side or the other,” Madonna added. “There’s no debate, there’s no discussion.”

Furthermore evidence of its prevalence in society is that the newly-launched University of Austin (UATX) is offering a course in 2022 titled “Cancel Culture, Censorship, and the Fall of Rome.”

“Learn how censorship has historically spelled doom for democracy, from the Fall of the Roman Empire through to the present day,” a description of the course reads, before mentioning the involvement of legend Ann Coulter. “We draw probing parallels between the cancellation of Julius Caesar and censoring on YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook.”
