Rep. Madison Cawthorn introduces “No-Fly for Illegals Act”

Rep. Madison Cawthorn, R-N.C., on Thursday introduced the “No-Fly for Illegals Act” which would prohibit the use of federal funds toward commercial flights for illegal immigrants to be flown to the interior of the United States.

The Washington Examiner reported the proposal seeks to prevent the federal government from funding migrant air travel across the country, specifically if the “presence of such alien in the United States is unlawful.”

However, the bill would make exceptions for deporting illegal immigrants to their home countries, or if they are certified asylum-seekers/refugees. The document states it would allow them to travel using federal funds only in the case that there is “an imminent threat to the life or physical safety of the alien.”

Cawthorn said in a statement the Biden administration is responsible for the worsening crisis at the southern border, stating “I’m deeply troubled by the reports regarding the crisis at our southern border and the dangerous and unlawful immigration policies of the Biden administration.”

“I refuse to watch illegal aliens be unlawfully flown and relocated to our beautiful states on the taxpayer’s dollar. This is why I introduced the No-Fly for Illegals Act,” Cawthorn continued.

The Biden administration has been staunchly criticized for its negligence and lack of action to combat the southern border crisis, often touted by critics as the “Biden Border Crisis.”

President Trump has repeatedly referred to the Biden administration as “irresponsible” and “weak” with illegal immigration at a record-high. He has also criticized Biden’s decision to issue an executive order halting construction of the border wall, referring to it as one of the main reasons the U.S. is experiencing the worst migrant crisis in years.
