Spotify caves to pressure and adds Covid ‘warnings’ to podcasts

Spotify, the megalithic audio streaming service that hosts artists and content creators from around the world, has caved to pressure from the radical left and will be adding “content advisories” to podcasts that include “a discussion about Covid-19.”

Spotify has received blowback from the liberal community for allowing wildly popular podcast host Joe Rogan on their platform despite that he supposedly spreads “fake information about vaccines,” according to singer Neil Young. As previously reported by RSBN, Young, who is known for songs like “Heart of Gold’ and “Thrasher,” gave Spotify an ultimatum in January, threatening to pull his music off their platform if they didn’t ban Joe Rogan.

Ironically, Spotify opted to keep Rogan’s podcast and remove Young’s catalog from their streaming service.

Further, Spotify has now joined the chorus of digital corporate entities in America, like Facebook and Instagram, who are placing advisories or content warnings on Covid-related topics.

“This advisory will direct listeners to our dedicated Covid-19 Hub,” Spotify announced in an official statement. “This new effort to combat misinformation will roll out to countries around the world in the coming days,” the statement continued.

Joe Rogan, who has become the darling of free speech proponents, responded to Spotify’s decision in a nearly 10-minute video posted to Twitter and Instagram.

“[My] podcast has been accused of spreading dangerous misinformation,” he said, referring to the episodes recorded with Dr. Peter McCullough and Dr. Robert Malone. Rogan added that he didn’t want to, “just show the contrary opinion to what the narrative is,” his goal was to help everyone “figure out what’s going on about everything.” He also concluded that, “It’s good to have some haters.”

Spotify’s decision to engage in adding content advisories to podcasts that discuss Covid data and treatment approaches is dancing dangerously close to outright censorship, and time will tell if they will end up banning “Covid misinformation” altogether in the near future or not.
