Steve Bannon, “War Room” host and former White House advisor for President Donald Trump, has officially filed an appeal in his conviction and sentencing for contempt of a congressional subpoena, per Just the News.

As previously reported by RSBN, Bannon was sentenced to 120 days in prison in October for failing to comply with a congressional subpoena from the partisan Jan. 6 Committee investigating the “insurrection” at the U.S. Capitol in 2021.

According to Rob Legare of CBS, U.S. District Judge Carl J. Nichols reportedly put Bannon’s incarceration on hold while the “appeal of his conviction is litigated.”

The order staying the sentence pending appeal stated:

“…the Court finds that Defendant Stephen K. Bannon (a) is not likely to flee or pose a danger to the safety of any other person or the community if released and (b) that his appeal is not taken for the purpose of delay but rather raises a substantial question of law that is likely to result in reversal or an order for a new trial.”

However, Bannon will be headed to court in November 2023 for trial on charges that he defrauded contributors and participated in a money laundering scheme, per RSBN.

Bannon has remained staunchly defiant in the face of his legal woes, telling reporters in September as he arrived at court that, “We’re going to destroy the Democrat Party as a national political institution.”
