President Trump announced his endorsement of South Carolina State Senator Russell Fry in a major rebuke of Rep. Tom Rice, R-S.C.
Fry currently represents the 106th district in South Carolina’s House of Representatives and is running against Tom Rice for a seat in the U.S. House. Trump described Russell Fry as an “America First Champion” in his endorsement, saying, “Russell Fry has been a leading fighter on Election Integrity, is pro-Life, pro-God, pro-Gun, and very importantly, pro-LOW Taxes.”
Trump presented a glowing record of Fry’s accomplishments. “He led the charge in passing the Open Carry Act, and also succeeded with the Religion is Essential Act,” in South Carolina,” Trump said.
The 45th president was quick to point out that Fry is a supporter of the U.S. military and law enforcement. “Russell loves our Military and our Vets-he is strong on Border Security and Crime,” he added. The State Senator has Trump’s “Complete and Total Endorsement.”
The 45th president ended his endorsement by urging South Carolina’s citizens to “VOTE TOM RICE OUT NOW!”
Tom Rice was one of 10 House Republicans who voted to impeach President Trump after the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. Trump has undertaken a challenge to replace each of these Republicans with strong America First candidates, causing some of these members to retire rather than face primary challengers. Reps. John Katko, R-N.Y., Adam Kinzinger, R-Ill., and Anthony Gonzalez, R-Ohio, have each announced they will not be running for reelection in the 2022 midterms.
Responding to the endorsement, Fry wrote, “Thank you, President Trump for always standing strong to defend the America First agenda, helping us take back the 7th Congressional District for the people of the Grand Strand and Pee Dee, and fighting the Democrats in Washington.”
He added, “Radical Leftists, enabled by RINOs like Tom Rice, are trying to erase President Trump’s legacy and move America towards socialism. We can’t let that happen.”
