Trump posts on Truth Social: ‘See you soon’

President Donald Trump excited people across the country on Tuesday after teasing a return to social media in a post on his new social media platform.

In a tweet captioned, “Time for some truth,” Donald Trump Jr. shared a screenshot of the 45th president’s first post on Truth Social. “Get ready! Your favorite president will see you soon,” said Trump.

Ironically after the tweet, Trump became a trending conversation on Twitter, the social media giant that banned him. Upon his banishment from mainstream social media companies including Facebook, Trump has vowed to create a Twitter-like competitor that embraces free speech.

Promoting Truth Social in an interview with Sean Hannity, Trump Jr. said, “Big Tech has suppressed conservative voices, whether you are pro-Second Amendment, if you’re pro-life, if you’re religious, if you’re just a conservative – you have been in Facebook jail, you have been de-platformed, you have been demonetized.”

Chairing the company as CEO is former Republican Rep. Devin Nunes. Nunes chose not to seek reelection but resigned from Congress in January to assume the role. The former U.S. House member from California reported earlier in February that the app is currently undergoing beta testing, but that full launch will ensue at the “end of March.” However, according to its listing on Apple’s app store, Truth Social will officially launch on President’s Day Feb. 21st.

Anticipated users looking to make a transition from Twitter to Truth Social will notice aesthetic differences between the two outlets. For example, a red check designating verified subscribers will be positioned to the right of one’s username. Another feature will be “Truths & Replies,” instead of “Tweets & replies.”

Still, the most significant distinction is that Truth Social will be a ” public square” without “shadow-banning, throttling, demonetizing, or messing with algorithms, for political manipulation,” said Trump.
