President Donald Trump blasted the Jan. 6 committee ahead of its Tuesday hearing where they attempted to blame the 45th president for the Capitol riot.

In a scorching post on Truth Social, Trump wrote, “Look at the people sitting on the Unselect Committee of Political Hacks and Thugs. Have you seen them before?”

The Jan. 6 Committee is comprised of House Democrats and two establishment Republicans who have been censured for their participation in the controversial committee. Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., and Rep. Adam Kinzinger, R-Ill., have joined the Democrats for a committee dedicated to preventing Trump from running in 2024 and damaging his reputation.

In another post on Truth Social Tuesday, the 45th president claimed the Jan. 6 committee “was formed solely for the purpose of bringing down my ‘numbers,’ or worse, relying on the Fake and made up stories, already largely debunked.”

Despite the Jan. 6 Committee’s efforts to implicate the 45th president in the Capitol riot, cable ratings have shown that the country is less interested in the evidence the committee has offered. Trump has repeatedly mocked the committee for its terrible ratings.

Trump claims the Jan. 6 Committee is simply an extension of the Russia investigation the Democrats pushed for years during the Trump administration. He commented, “They are essentially the same lunatics that drove the Country ‘crazy’ with their lies and made up stories, like RUSSIA, RUSSIA, RUSSIA, and all of the others, who were caught in the act sooo many times.”

In preparation for Tuesday’s hearing, The Washington Post tweeted, “The Jan. 6 committee hearing on Tuesday will focus on the role of violent extremists attacking the U.S. Capitol and President Donald Trump’s involvement in promoting the mob.”

Nevertheless, as Trump explained, “They’re just going with this HOAX, which is as true as me trying to strangle a Secret Service Agent from behind,” he joked.
