As voters headed to the polls on Nov. 8 to cast their votes in the midterm election, President Donald J. Trump touted a year’s worth of “unprecedented success.”
In a statement released Tuesday by Trump’s Save America PAC and shared to the 45th president’s Truth Social account, Trump’s many 2022 accomplishments were highlighted, including nearly $350 million in fundraising for Republican candidates and committees and his stellar endorsement record.
Noting that Trump endorsed more than 330 candidates this election cycle, the statement touted the president’s 21-0 primary endorsement record for U.S. Senate candidates and his ability to lift candidates in the polls.
“When President Trump endorsed J.D. Vance on April 15, 2022, he was polling in 5th place for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate,” the press release noted. “His endorsement led to a resounding 8% margin of primary victory by Vance among a 7-candidate field. In the general election, Vance was outspent by $35 million.”
The release also pointed to the “enormous” margins of victory for other Senate endorsees like Herschel Walker in Georgia, Ted Budd in North Carolina, and Adam Laxalt in Nevada as further evidence of the difference Trump’s endorsement can make.
Although Trump did not have a perfect record on House candidates, the statement noted that eight out of 10 of the representatives who voted to impeach him have since retired or been defeated in their bids for reelection.
“One Republican who remains survived through the diffusion of votes against him, spread across 6 other candidates,” the release explained. “34% of Republican votes were cast for the Representative who voted to impeach — 66% of Republican votes were cast against him.”
Likewise, the statement attributed the success of gubernatorial candidates like Kari Lake in Arizona, Derek Schmidt in Kansas, and Gov. Kevin Stitt in Oklahoma to Trump’s coveted endorsement.
And the president has good reason to feel that way. Seen by many as the “kingmaker” of the Republican Party, the billionaire’s support has repeatedly proven to go a long way with conservative voters.
Knowing this, Trump told reporters in Palm Beach, Florida, Tuesday that he expects to have a “very big night” as election results pour in across the country.
