President Donald Trump’s campaign cited a new study showing that more than half of Americans say they are worse off than they were four years ago.

The news release was based on a new Gallup poll released on Friday.

“More than half of Americans say they’re WORSE OFF today than they were four years ago, according to a new Gallup poll — while just 39% say they’re better off. It hasn’t been since 1992 that a larger share of Americans said they were worse off than four years ago,” the Trump campaign statement read.

“Meanwhile, Americans’ confidence in the economy also remains harshly negative — a trend that has continued for virtually the entirety of the Harris-Biden administration as Americans grapple with unprecedented price hikes, declining pay, and higher bills,” it continued.

Another major finding of the Gallup study is that America’s economic confidence remains low.

“Over the past four years, Economic Confidence has largely been negative. In 2022, the index registered several scores that were among the worst since the 2007-2009 recession, as inflation reached levels not seen in four decades. During the past three years, Americans have named inflation as the most important financial problem facing their family,” it noted.

“These findings suggest inflation likely underlies Americans’ perceptions that the economy is poor, even against a backdrop of generally low unemployment, steady economic growth, and record stock and housing values,” it added.

Karoline Leavitt issued a statement about the state of the country’s economy following the latest inflation report that showed overall prices are still up since Harris took office, RSBN previously reported.

Leavitt slammed Harris, saying, “Kamala Harris’ terrible economic policies continue to hit the American people where it hurts.”

She added, “The latest inflation report came in hotter than anticipated, overall prices are still up more than 20% since Kamala took office, and real average weekly earnings are down 3.4%.”

The inflation report, which CNBC News shared, revealed that inflation rose by 0.2 percent, putting the inflation rate at 2.4 percent, an increase that surpassed expectations. Core prices for food and energy also went up by 0.3 percent, which is above the forecast.
