President Donald Trump said Sunday that his administration has identified a buyer for the U.S. assets of TikTok and plans to reveal the group’s identity within the next two weeks.

Trump shared the news during an interview on Fox News Channel’s “Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo.”

“We have a buyer for TikTok, by the way,” Trump said. “I’ll tell you in about 2 weeks.”

He described the buyers as a group of “very wealthy people,” though he did not specify whether any known investors were involved. Kevin O’Leary, a businessman and investor featured on “Shark Tank,” has previously expressed interest in purchasing the social media platform; however, it remains unclear whether he is part of the deal.

Trump’s comments come after he signed an executive order earlier this month granting a 90-day extension for China-based ByteDance to divest TikTok’s U.S. operations. The order is part of a broader push to limit Chinese control over technology platforms operating in the United States.

Trump also predicted that Chinese President Xi Jinping would likely approve the sale.

The pending deal could resolve longstanding national security concerns surrounding the popular video-sharing app, which U.S. officials have accused of posing a risk due to its ties to the Chinese government.

Trump shared plans to again extend the June 19 deadline earlier this month. The president previously acknowledged that TikTok played a role in boosting his support among young voters during the 2024 election.

“Probably, yeah,” Trump said when asked whether he would grant more time for the divestiture, according to Reuters.

“Probably have to get China approval but I think we’ll get it. I think President Xi will ultimately approve it,” he added.

RSBN previously reported the president’s plans to extend the deadline following his May interview on NBC’s “Meet the Press” with Kristen Welker from his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida.

“I’d like to see it done. I have a little sweet spot in my heart because, as you know, I won young people by 36 points. That’s a lot. No Republican ever won young people, and I won it by 36 points, and I focused on TikTok,” Trump stated.

“So perhaps I shouldn’t say this, but I have a little warm spot in my heart for TikTok. TikTok is — it’s very interesting, but it’ll be protected. It’ll be very strongly protected. But if it needs an extension, I would be willing to give it an extension, might not need it,” Trump continued.
