President Donald Trump sat down with popular comedian and podcast host Theo Von and explained why “the establishment” hates him.
The Tuesday interview quickly turned viral with millions of views in under 24 hours.
Von asked, “Why does the establishment keep trying to sink you?”
Trump simply answered, “They wanna sell product that I’m not interested in,” and noted that Big Pharma is a main adversary.
He described how this helps him politically. “When you can show that they push back, the voters seem to like it.”
Von recalled Trump’s Executive Order (that is no longer available on the White House website) which was designed to force hospitals and insurance companies to publicly publish their prices so Americans could compare costs.
According to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the Improving Price and Quality Transparency in American Healthcare Executive Order was designed in 2019 to ensure “that insured and uninsured Americans alike have the information necessary to get an accurate estimate of the cost of the healthcare services they are seeking before they receive care.”
Von called out the Biden administration for refusing to enforce this policy. “Hospitals and insurance companies, they’re still not showing their prices.”
Trump stated that this is because “They hated it.”
“Biden let it go. He never enforced it,” he added.
“That would have brought down the price of… not only just care,” he explained, “Physical care, mental care. That would have brought down the cost of care 50, 60 percent. And Biden and Kamala didn’t press it.”
Von expressed his frustration at the situation. He said, “One of the leading causes of bankruptcy is medical debt.”
According to the Associated Press, medical debt has become the leading cause of bankruptcy for patients, amounting to an estimated $88 billion in debt collections in the United States each year.
President Trump pledged to press the issue and stand by his policy.
