A new one-of-a-kind commemorative Social Security card is set to be distributed to millions of newborn American babies in honor of the country’s 250th anniversary, an exclusive report has revealed.
According to information obtained and confirmed by Fox News, the Social Security Administration will gift children in the United States with collectible Social Security cards sporting the “Freedom 250” logo. To qualify for these special cards, children must be born between July 2 and December 31 of this year, the outlet said, citing the SSA.
“The next generation of Americans born during this historic year will receive limited-edition Social Security cards bearing the Freedom 250 logo,” said Social Security Commissioner Frank J. Bisignano, in a statement, per Fox.
He continued, “Under the leadership of President Donald J. Trump, we are strengthening Social Security, improving service, and building an SSA to serve Americans today and in the future.”
In a social media post, the SSA shared this news on its page, noting that the commemorative card for newborns is part of their “Enumeration at Birth” program.
According to the SSA’s website, this simply means that new parents whose babies are born at hospitals, birthing centers, or with a licensed midwife can request a Social Security Number during the birth registration process. This results in an automatically-assigned card and record of birth.
This new commemorative token for American newborns builds upon the Trump administration’s work to bolster opportunity and wealth for the next generation.
For example, the U.S. Department of the Treasury has been prepping for the launch of anticipated “Trump Accounts” in July – an investment program for minors created with the signing of last year’s “One Big Beautiful Bill.”
As reported by RSBN, parents or guardians may contribute up to $5,000 every year beginning in July 2026 until the child turns 18. The government will seed these accounts (for children born between January 1, 2025 and December 31, 2028) with $1,000 to start.
