Biden’s Department of Homeland Security announced on Wednesday morning that it is suspending the creation of its strongly-condemned disinformation governance board, The Washington Post first reported.
A DHS spokesperson announced the Orwellian censorship board dubbed “ministry of truth” by critics would be placed under review, according to Washington Examiner.
This comes after Nina Jankowicz, the woman tapped to lead the board, faced immense criticism over previous videos proving her allegiance to the radical left.
“Nina Jankowicz has been subjected to unjustified and vile personal attacks and physical threats,” the spokesperson told the outlet. “In congressional hearings and in media interviews, the Secretary has repeatedly defended her as eminently qualified and underscored the importance of the Department’s disinformation work, and he will continue to do so.”
Biden’s disinformation board was announced in April, days after billionaire innovator Elon Musk struck a deal with the Twitter board to purchase the company and restore free speech.
The disinformation board’s critics speculated that the federal government plans to use it to counteract Musk’s plans to ensure free speech for all. However, prominent Republicans, including Gov. Ron DeSantis, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, and many more, have condemned the board and called for its dismantling.
Perhaps the board’s temporary suspension is a step toward a permanent dissolution.
