President Donald Trump’s massive victory has prompted leaders worldwide to initiate policy changes more aligned with his agenda.

Within the last few days, Mexico committed to cracking down on the flow of illegal migrants and drugs headed to the United States’ southern border.

Now Canada is following suit, signaling that Trump’s 25 percent tariff threats are working. Just The News recently reported that shortly after meeting with Howard Lutnick, Trump’s pick for Commerce Secretary, Canadian Public Safety Minister Dominic LeBlanc said the country would tighten its border security.

While the southern border is often the topic of conversation, illegal border crossings at the northern border have dramatically increased since President Joe Biden took office.

According to reporting from The Center Square, terror-connected migrants have crossed into the United States at record levels via the northern border in recent years.

President Trump recently wrote, “As everyone is aware, thousands of people are pouring through Mexico and Canada, bringing Crime and Drugs at levels never seen before.”

He further emphasized the two countries’ roles in curbing the flow. “Both Mexico and Canada have the absolute right and power to easily solve this long simmering problem.”

He then stated his promise of what would happen until leadership agreed to act. “We hereby demand that they use this power, and until such time that they do, it is time for them to pay a very big price!”

Trump also discussed the issue during his meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau last Friday.

In a Truth Social post afterward, President Trump said he and Trudeau discussed topics that would require a joint effort to address, including “the Fentanyl and Drug Crisis that has decimated so many lives as a result of Illegal Immigration.”

Additionally, Trump’s nominee for border czar, Tim Homan, recently divulged his plans to stop illegal migration during an interview with 7News.

“If you’re gonna cross the St. Lawrence River or the lake or on foot, they need to know, you can come, but you’re going to be arrested. You’re not going to be released and we’re going to remove you,” Homan remarked.

He continued, telling the outlet, “There’s not going to be like the Biden Administration where we process ya and release ya and you don’t show up in court.”

He concluded the discussion by detailing the approach he will take once Trump takes office. “So more agents, we’ll end catch and release and President Trump will need to work with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and say look, you need to enforce the immigration laws you have because this is a gateway to the U.S.”
