Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., the acting chairman of the House Oversight Committee, gave an update this week on the ongoing battle between House Republicans and FBI Director Christopher Wray over a subpoenaed document linked to Joe Biden’s alleged bribery scheme.

As previously reported by RSBN, Comer and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., have threatened to bring contempt charges against Wray for failing to produce a document that was requested by the committee. The document in question is a FD-1023 form, which reveals details of communications between FBI agents and their confidential sources.

On Wednesday, Rep. Comer revealed that he had spoken to Wray on the phone. “On my call with FBI Director Wray, the FBI finally confirmed the existence of the FD-1023 form alleging then-VP Joe Biden engaged in a criminal bribery scheme,” he wrote on Twitter.

He added, “Anything short of producing these documents to @GOPoversight is not in compliance with my subpoena.”

Comer additionally clarified his position on the subject in a statement. “…Director Wray did not commit to producing the documents subpoenaed by the House of Oversight Committee. While Director Wray – after a month of refusing to even acknowledge the form existed – has offered to allow us to see the documents in person at FBI headquarters, we have been clear that anything short of producing these documents to the House Oversight Committee is not in compliance with the subpoena.”

He noted that if the FBI failed to produce the document, “the House Oversight Committee will begin contempt of Congress proceedings.”

On Twitter, the House Oversight Committee also commented, “He’s [Christopher Wray] allowing this unclassified record to be reviewed at the FBI but hasn’t produced it to a committee.”

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., additionally advocated for holding Wray in contempt of Congress and beginning impeachment proceedings.

“The DOJ and FBI are trying to sweep the Biden crimes under the rug while they try and throw President Trump in jail,” she remarked on Twitter.

On Thursday morning, Rep. Comer revealed that he was drafting legislation to hold Wray in contempt of Congress.
