Comer joins Greene, Musk and Ramaswamy to lead Trump’s efficiency crusade

The House Oversight Committee plans to create a subcommittee to root out government waste and lead President Donald Trump’s efficiency crusade.

According to Fox News, House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer is expected to create a subcommittee to work alongside the newly formed Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). The efficiency panel created by Trump is headed up by Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, who will serve as outside volunteers and not federal officials.

The Hill reported that this efficiency panel will identify thousands of regulations for Trump to eliminate. The pair laid out their plans in a Wall Street Journal op-ed, writing, “The two of us will advise DOGE at every step to pursue three major kinds of reform: regulatory rescissions, administrative reductions, and cost savings.”

They also wrote, “We will focus particularly on driving change through executive action based on existing legislation rather than by passing new laws.”

Comer’s new subcommittee will investigate wasteful spending, examine different ways to reorganize federal agencies to improve their efficiency, and come up with solutions to get rid of bureaucratic red tape.

According to Fox News, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., will be joining the subcommittee by chairing the panel. Greene expressed her excitement about her new role and told Fox News, “I’m excited to chair this new subcommittee designed to work hand in hand with President Trump, Elon Musk, Vivek Ramaswamy and the entire DOGE team,” and added, “We will identify and investigate the waste, corruption and absolutely useless parts of our federal government.”

Greene also told the news outlet that the new subcommittee will “expose people who need to be fired,” and added, “bureaucrats who don’t do their job, fail audits like in the Pentagon and don’t know where billions of dollars are going, will be getting a pink slip.”

Fox News reported that Comer said the subcommittee will that aims to be truthful with the American people will “align with the Trump administration’s priorities to eliminate government waste, streamline the federal government’s operations and cut red tape that’s stifling jobs and increasing costs for the American people.”
