According to Axios, Congress has until Friday to pass the major spending bill, which multiple leaders have stated is too large to read in time for a vote before the holiday break.

He attached a clip of him predicting this outcome back in September.
Rep. Eric Burlinson, R-Mo., Spoke out about the spending bill being “released at the very last minute.”

Over 1,500 pages.
Deadline is Friday.
How can anyone read and understand this entire thing, much less vote for it in good conscience?! https://t.co/7cx4CHop45 https://t.co/P5YNsDhvtw
“How can anyone read and understand this entire thing, much less vote for it in good conscience?!” he added.
Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., compared the situation with being held hostage after discovering that relief funds for the victims of Hurricane Helen and Milton are tied to the package. “Why was Helene and Milton funding not a stand alone vote,” she asked.
We are literally being held hostage with this “CR.” Why was Helene and Milton funding not a stand alone vote? We can vote on post offices as stand alone votes but not disaster relief? 🤦🏻♀️
— Anna Paulina Luna (@realannapaulina) December 17, 2024
She then continued to question the motive behind this addition to the spending bill. “We can vote on post offices as stand alone votes but not disaster relief? We can vote on post offices as stand alone votes but not disaster relief?”
The first 9 pages of this Continuing Resolution are all we need to keep the government open; the other 1,500+ pages are a handbook on how the government plans to waste your tax dollars for a bit.

Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., noted, “The first 9 pages of this Continuing Resolution are all we need to keep the government open; the other 1,500+ pages are a handbook on how the government plans to waste your tax dollars for a bit.”
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., predicted that it will gain more favor with Democrats than Republicans. She stated, “The Swamp is using farmers and victims of natural disasters as pawns to fund an over-bloated pet project filled disaster.”
This CR is turning into a three-month omnibus, that will result in more Democrats than Republicans voting for it.

I would much rather help farmers and… pic.twitter.com/J3364AWwiS
“Why are farmers and victims of natural disasters always political pawns in an effort to continue funding bloated government?” she asked, adding, “It’s the same old Uniparty BS, dangling important programs around as bargaining chip to fuel more government waste and adding to our deficit.”
Whether the bill will pass and make it to the Senate is uncertain, but Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, commented on Luna’s post, stating, “They won’t let us vote for anything. Unless we agree to fund everything.”
