Doctor who treated Corey Comperatore at 7/13 rally recalls hearing ‘the voice of God’

Dr. James Sweetland returned to Butler, Pennsylvania, for President Donald Trump’s Back to Butler rally. He recalled his experiences on the day of the assassination attempt where he treated shooting victim Corey Comperatore.

He noted, “It was like a rock concert,” and everyone was enjoying the event. When President Trump came out, “He was like a rock star.”

“About seven mins into the speech, shots rang out,” Sweetland went on and added, “At first I thought they were firecrackers.”

He stated that he realized what happened as Secret Service members jumped on top of the 45th President. Sweetland called it “a pyramid of humanity.”

He then described how EMS workers moved fast and he hesitated. But then he heard a voice saying, “ “Go! Go! They need your help.”

“I’m telling you right now that was the voice of God,” Sweetland declared. He acted and treated shooting victim and volunteer firefighter, Corey Comperatore, who passed away from his injuries.

“I’ve been called a hero many times,” Sweetland added. He explained how he struggles with that, “Because in that pantheon of heroes, I’m in the bottom rung. Corey Comperatore is at the top.”

“I am honored to be mentioned in the same breath as Corey,” he said.

He then urged people to speak about their differences with Democrats through civil discourse to avoid further acts of violence and discuss that fact that, “An assassin’s bullet should not decide our election.”
