President Donald Trump welcomed North Dakota State University’s football team to the White House on Wednesday to celebrate their FCS Division I national championship.

The visit included a stop at the Capitol Building and recognized the team’s 10th NCAA championship following a 35-32 victory over Montana State.

“It was my Great Honor to welcome the North Dakota State University, 2025 Division 1 Football Champions—to the White House this evening. CONGRATULATIONS!” Trump wrote in a post to Truth Social following the event.

“The Bison heard remarks from the North Dakota delegates and special guest Tommy Tuberville, current Alabama senator and former head football coach at Ole Miss, Auburn, Texas Tech and Cincinnati,” according to a news release from the university.

“Senator Hoeven presented two framed U.S. flags that previously flew over the Capitol, one in recognition of NDSU’s 2024 national championship and one in recognition of North Dakota native Randy Hedberg, who retired after the season following a 45-year college coaching career,” it added.

North Dakota Republican Sen. John Hoeven posted a picture to X with team members on Thursday.

“Showing @NDSUfootball around the U.S. Capitol today – experiencing our history and seeing the sights before we head over to the White House to celebrate their national FCS championship win with @POTUS,” he wrote.

“We just couldn’t be more proud of them. Tremendous year. I mean, they got better all year long. Won a fantastic game against Montana State,” Hoeven also said in a statement.

Trump adviser Margo Martin also posted a video of North Dakota State head coach Tim Polasek presenting the president with a number 47 Bison jersey.

“This is pretty cool. You know, we respect and value the opportunity that came from the North Dakota delegation. And then obviously, Mr. Trump allowing us to be here is just something else,” Coach Polasek said.

“It means a lot. You know, this country means a lot to me. And just to be around these people who make crucial decisions for our country has been awesome,” quarterback Cam Miller said.
