Political firebrand and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) just gave an endorsement of Harmeet Dhillon for chair of the Republican National Committee (RNC).

It has been reported Thursday that Gov. DeSantis, in conversation with Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, gave a full-throated endorsement of Dhillon. Kirk quoted DeSantis Thursday, tweeting, “We’ve had 3 substandard election cycles in a row, ’18, ’20, and ’22, and I’d say ’22 was the worst…I think we need a change. I think we need to get some new blood in the RNC.”

It was further reported by The Hill that DeSantis also said, “I like what Harmeet Dhillon has said about getting the RNC out of D.C. Why would you want to have your headquarters in the most Democrat city in America? It’s more Democrat than San Francisco is,” he continued. DeSantis was referencing a letter that was sent to members of the RNC by Dhillon regarding officials looking into regional offices while at the same time keeping their headquarters in Washington.

RSBN recently reported that Dhillon officially announced her bid for RNC chair on Tucker Carlson Tonight last month. Dhillon said that Republicans needed to “radically reshape” the party’s leadership to win elections.

“Republicans are tired of losing. And I think that we really need to radically reshape our leadership in order to win,” Dhillon stated. “We can’t keep running elections like we did in the 90s and the 2000s. We really have to modernize to compete with the Democrats … Our messaging needs to be fresh and positive, and not just reactive to news cycles and what the Democrats are doing.”

Dhillon added, “I’m a member of the RNC and no other member is stepping up to challenge leadership. Our current leadership has never been challenged for the chair job and I think challenge and competition is very good. And so, I’m hoping to gain the support of grassroots Americans who do not like the direction of the party and its leadership.”
