X owner Elon Musk will interview President Donald Trump on Monday at 8 p.m. Eastern Time (5 p.m. Pacific) in what the 45th president is calling the “interview of the century.”
The Team Trump post update of the event was shared on Trump’s Truth Social profile Monday morning with the exact time of the event.
“President Trump will be interviewed by Elon Musk on Monday at 8 pm Eastern,” the post stated. “Like this post to be notified when the interview begins. IT WILL BE THE INTERVIEW OF THE CENTURY! MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
The interview will be hosted on X at Trump’s account @ReadlDonaldTrump.com.
The announcement of the interview was first shared by Trump on his Truth Social account on Aug. 6.
“ON MONDAY NIGHT I’LL BE DOING A MAJOR INTERVIEW WITH ELON MUSK – Details to follow!” he wrote.
Musk stated in a post that the interview would be “This is unscripted with no limits on subject matter, so should be highly entertaining!”
He added, “If you have specific questions & comments, post them under the chat.”
The symbolism in hosting the event on Trump’s X account is strong, as he was banned from the platform following Jan. 6, 2021. Musk later led the move to reinstate the account after purchasing Twitter (now X).
Trump has posted only once on the account since it was restored to the platform. On Aug. 24, 2023, he posted his mug shot along with a link to his campaign website.
The words of the post included, “ELECTION INTERFERENCE. NEVER SURRENDER!”
The interview could include some unexpected comments from both leaders. Musk has stated that he voted for President Joe Biden in 2020 but publicly voiced his support for Trump following his assassination attempt last month.
Musk has also reportedly provided millions of dollars in financial support to a Trump-aligned PAC, though he has disputed recent reports of donating $45 million per month.
Trump has previously shared some critical comments about Musk but has been positive toward him in recent months.
“I’m for electric cars. I have to be, because Elon endorsed me very strongly. So I have no choice,” Trump joked during an early August rally.
