Judge Juan Merchan agreed on Friday to delay President Donald Trump’s sentencing until Nov. 26 in his New York case, pushing the date until after the presidential election.
The decision changed the previous sentencing date in the hush-money case set for Sept. 18.
“There should be no sentencing in the Manhattan DA’s Election Interference Witch Hunt. As mandated by the United States Supreme Court, this case, along with all of the other Harris-Biden Hoaxes, should be dismissed,” Steven Cheung, Trump campaign spokesperson told Fox News Digital.
Trump was ruled guilty on all 34 counts of falsifying business records. He pleaded not guilty and argued he was innocent of the charges.
The new date is the latest in a series of delays in the case. The initial sentencing was scheduled for July 11, just ahead of the Republican National Convention.
The change also comes following Trump’s posts ahead of the ruling on Thursday.
“This is what various Legal Scholars and Experts, Brilliant Lawyers, and Highly Respected Journalists think of the Manhattan D.A. Hoax, where the Democrats, headed up by Comrade Kamala Harris, working directly with the DOJ (which they’re not supposed to be!), want to put a Former President of the United States, and the Leading Candidate for President, in PRISON,” Trump wrote.
“This is unheard of, there has never been anything like it in our Country, and they are doing it in a blatant and illegal attempt to ‘win’ an Election that, based on their results, should be ‘unwinnable,’ but I can’t talk about it because Judge Merchan has put an UnConstitutional Gag Order on me. Somehow it will ALL work out – I don’t know how, I don’t know why, I don’t know when, but it always does!” he added, then citing a list of legal experts sharing his view.
Trump also spoke out against Merchan’s ongoing gag order in a Wednesday post.
“Nobody can believe I am still under a Gag Order from Judge Merchan and, despite being the leading Candidate for President of the United States, I am not allowed to speak about a trial that virtually every well known and respected legal scholar said, ‘THERE IS NO CRIME.’ I DID NOTHING WRONG. WITCH HUNT. RELEASE THE GAG ORDER!!!” he wrote.
