Secretary of the Environmental Protection Agency Lee Zeldin is speaking out about the Trump administration’s plans to pursue an American comeback that focuses on energy independence and the elimination of waste. In a conversation with Brett Baier of Fox News, Zeldin focused on the approach of the administration to promoting common-sense energy policy and fulfilling Trump’s overall electoral mandate.
“The American public elected President Trump to ensure that we were heeding their economic concerns, promoting consumer freedom, to help unleash a golden age of American prosperity,” Zeldin said. “All of these different agencies, including EPA, have so many powers, equities that allow us to deliver on that Trump mandate.”
As a former New York Congressman, Zeldin has expressed his agreement with President Trump on issues such as the need for permitting reform. He has also aligned with Trump on the need to prioritize energy independence, a problem that grows in importance, particularly as the Trump administration attempts to act as negotiator in ongoing global conflicts.
As highlighted by Zeldin, the Trump EPA seeks to pursue a broad range of goals while also preserving the traditional role of the agency in ensuring environmental protection. Zeldin emphasized the comprehensive approach of the EPA under the current administration to pursue U.S. energy dominance and to fulfill the electoral mandate given to President Trump by voters on a wide range of issues.
“For us here at EPA, our core mission is protecting human health and the environment. We want to power the great American comeback, which means, as President Trump has spoken about, clean air, land and water for all Americans,” Zeldin said. “We can also help unleash energy dominance, make America the AI capital of the world, advance cooperative federalism, permitting reform, bringing back American auto jobs, these are also all demands that the American public voted for.”
