Maricopa County, Arizona, has been a hotbed of election problems since 2020, and these past midterm elections have done nothing to assuage the concerns of frustrated Arizonans who are understandably worried about the safety and security of their election system.
According to a report from The Post Millennial, one major red flag coming out of the troubled county is news that an anti-MAGA PAC dubbed “Pro Democracy Republicans of Arizona” had been formed in 2021 by Maricopa County Chairman Bill Gates and Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer.
Kari Lake commented on the bombshell news regarding Richer and Gates: “Shouldn’t Election Officials be impartial? The guys running the Election have made it their mission to defeat America First Republicans. Unbelievable.”
On Election Day, Maricopa County’s vote tabulators reportedly experienced severe problems, affecting 20 percent of the machines. Chairman Gates attempted to downplay the situation by claiming, “What happened…should not be used to question the integrity of the election.”
According to The Post Millennial’s report, the suspicious PAC claims on their website that the “Arizona election wasn’t stolen,” and that the democratic institutions and peaceful transitions of power in the U.S. cannot be abandoned for “conspiracy theories and demagoguery.”
On Monday, conservative filmmaker and pundit Dinesh D’Souza commented on Twitter that, “Something is rotten in Arizona,” as Maricopa County continued to trickle-down delayed election results six entire days after Election Day.
Even Republican nominee for Arizona secretary of state, Mark Finchem, remarked on Monday that Maricopa County was potentially engaging in some funny business as allegedly “final” vote dumps came in from Maricopa. “Study the polling for Maricopa. No way we lost Maricopa,” he wrote on Twitter.
Both Richer and Gates had a hand in overseeing an Arizona election in which a Trump-endorsed and unashamed MAGA nominee, Kari Lake, has powerful grassroots support from conservative and swing voters alike.
