Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., took a shot at House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., on Friday, creaming the career politician for her refusal to secure the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.
“Nancy Pelosi refused President Trump’s multiple requests to have the National Guard at the Capitol,” Greene tweeted. “She should be in jail.”
President Trump has long claimed that Pelosi stonewalled his administration’s attempts to ensure that the U.S. Capitol building was secure ahead of the Jan. 6 rally. “It’s Nancy Pelosi’s fault, she turned down the troops!” Trump wrote in a statement posted to Truth Social.
Additionally, a new report from the Pentagon’s Inspector General recently proved that President Trump did request that the Jan. 6 event in Washington D.C. be safe for all attending.
According to the memo, the 45th president “told Mr. Miller that there would be a large number of protestors on January 6, 2021, and Mr. Miller should ensure sufficient National Guard or Soldiers would be there to make sure it was a safe event. Gen Milley told us that Mr. Miller responded, ‘We’ve got a plan and we’ve got it covered.’”
Rep. Greene reflected on President Trump’s conduct on Jan. 6, pointing out that the president called on protesters to “Go home with love & in peace.”
Greene continued, “There must be accountability for the lies and persecution Democrats & media are bringing against Pres Trump, his family, his admin & staff, supporters, and attorneys. These are the same type of things that were done to the brave men who signed our Declaration of Independence.”
