President Trump has proven repeatedly that he knows how to hammer his political opponents where the attacks will land most effectively, and on Tuesday, he strongly predicted that the once “heir apparent” to the MAGA empire, Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., may soon be dropping out of the 2024 presidential primary race.
The president proclaimed on Truth Social, “Ron DeSanctimonious has the Poll numbers of a wounded bird falling from the sky. I am up on him by 57 points, and going higher.”
Trump is leading DeSantis by dozens of points in the national GOP primary polls and key state polls like New Hampshire, Iowa, Ohio, and South Carolina. Morning Consult’s newest 2024 Republican primary tracker revealed that the president held 61 percent of support among GOP voters nationwide, while DeSantis held only 12 percent.
The president continued, “He has proven to be a terrible and inept candidate who even fought Social Security and MediCare. He will SOON be out of money and dropping out of the race for President.”
If this turns out to be true, President Trump will be proven right yet again on another prediction. He has often said that he would not be playing “prevent-defense” when it came to fighting for the Republican primary nomination in 2024.
“We will NOT play prevent-defense,” he stated in New Hampshire earlier this year.
In other words, President Trump is in it to win it, and Gov. DeSantis clearly does not have the momentum behind him to support his beleaguered campaign efforts as Trump continues to gain national support in polls across the country.
According to Florida Politics, spokesman for the DeSantis super PAC, “Never Back Down,” Steve Cortes, has stepped down from his position with the 2024 campaign, having only been with them for a few months.
President Trump triumphantly concluded on Truth Social, “After having single handidly gotten him elected Governor, with no thanks or glory, it has been a beautiful thing to watch. Good luck Ron!”
