Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and other Republican leaders issued strong warnings after the FBI conducted a raid on Trump’s residence at Mar-a-Lago Monday evening.
Pompeo warned, “Executing a warrant against ex-POTUS is dangerous. The apparent political weaponization of DOJ/FBI is shameful.”
Republicans have warned the American people for years about how the FBI and DOJ have become politicized and been used as tools of the Democrat Party. However, Monday night’s raid on a U.S. president has created what many Republicans like Pompeo see as a dangerous precedent.
As Trump said Monday night, “Nothing like this has ever happened to a President of the United States before. After working and cooperating with the relevant Government agencies, this unannounced raid on my home was not necessary or appropriate.”
Pompeo urged for the leadership in charge of Monday night’s raid to be held accountable for their actions. “AG must explain why 250 yrs of practice was upended w/ this raid,” he said.
Pompeo also pointed to the double standard for the FBI’s investigations into Republicans and Democrats. Despite an ongoing investigation into Hunter Biden and a former investigation into Hillary Clinton, the FBI has seemingly attempted to keep the investigations quiet and respectful. On the other hand, Monday night’s sudden raid on the 45th president’s personal residence showed an unprecedented level of disrespect for a president.
Pompeo said, “I served on Benghazi Com where we proved Hillary possessed classified info. We didn’t raid her home.”
House Minority Leader Rep. Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., issued a warning to Biden’s politicized Justice Department last night, saying, “Attorney General Garland: preserve your documents and clear your calendar.”
McCarthy warned Garland that when Republicans retake the House, they will immediately conduct an investigation into the FBI.
“I’ve seen enough,” McCarthy said. “The Department of Justice has reached an intolerable state of weaponized politicization.”
As news of the FBI’s raid on Mar-a-Lago dominated Monday evening’s news cycle, leaders in the Republican Party continued to criticize the FBI and the DOJ and unite behind the 45th president.
Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, said, “The FBI and DOJ leadership has abused the awesome power of law enforcement as if the U.S. has no constitution and is a fascist police state.”
Giuliani also pointed to the double standard of the FBI, saying, “Even with documented evidence of crimes endangering our national security they continue to cover up for the Biden Crime Family.”
