President Donald Trump made a surprisingly impassioned demand Tuesday morning, with just hours to go on the ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran: he asked for the release of eight women who are allegedly scheduled to be executed.

“To the Iranian leaders, who will soon be in negotiations with my representatives: I would greatly appreciate the release of these women,” the president wrote on Truth Social.

Attached to his statement was a picture of eight women. It is unclear who these women are and why they are allegedly scheduled to be executed by the Iranian regime, presumably the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

“I am sure that they will respect the fact that you did so. Please do them no harm! Would be a great start to our negotiations!!!” President Trump added.

His comments come amid a second round of peace talks in Islamabad, Pakistan, although it is currently unclear at this point what the timing of these negotiations is. As reported by RSBN, the U.S. delegation is being led by Vice President J.D. Vance, the president’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, and Steve Witkoff.

On Monday, the president remarked that if the ceasefire with Iran expired without a deal in place, “Then the bombs start going off.”

He doubled down on this stance during an early morning interview on Tuesday with CNBC’s Squawk Box. “Well, I expect to be bombing because I think that’s a better attitude to go in with, but, we’re ready to go. I mean, the military is raring to go.”

He also indicated that he wasn’t necessarily open to extending the ceasefire if needed.

“I don’t want to do that; we don’t have that much time,” he stated.

The president was also pressed on whether his threat to bomb bridges and power plants within Iran was a “last resort” or not, given the harm it could cause to the domestic population.

“It’s not my choice but it will also hurt them, it will hurt them militarily,” President Trump said.
