President Donald Trump on Monday announced plans for a “DronePort” connected to the proposed White House ballroom project, describing it as a major security enhancement for Washington.
In a post on Truth Social, the president said the facility would be among the most advanced drone defense systems in the world.
“The DronePort at the White House Ballroom will be, perhaps, the most sophisticated anywhere in the World!” he wrote. “It will safeguard our Nation’s Capital, Washington, D.C., long into the future.”
President Trump also criticized U.S. District Judge Richard Leon amid an ongoing legal dispute surrounding the ballroom project.
“Judge Richard Leon should stop playing games with America’s Security!” he wrote.
“If anything happens, he will be held responsible for the Death and Destruction caused to our Country,” President Trump added.
The president argued that modern security threats require more advanced defensive systems around the nation’s capital.
“With the advent of highly sophisticated, and powerful, modern day weaponry, we can no longer defend Washington, D.C., with rifles and pistols, alone,” the post continued.
President Trump also criticized a lawsuit challenging the ballroom construction project, calling it “ridiculous” and arguing the plaintiff lacks legal standing.
He claimed the lawsuit was brought by “a highly litigious woman (serial plaintiff!)” who argued that her ability to stroll near the White House area would be disrupted by the proposed structure.
He further accused the judge of previously allowing the release of “Top Secret” information and said the lawsuit should be dismissed immediately.
“This ridiculous lawsuit must be dismissed, IMMEDIATELY!” he wrote.
The White House ballroom proposal has faced multiple legal and preservation-related challenges in recent months as the administration pushes forward with several large-scale construction projects in Washington.
