The final night of the Republican National Convention was held on Thursday. The end of the convention featured speeches from several notable personalities including Dana White and Hulk Hogan. In the finale of the convention, President Donald Trump officially accepted the party’s nomination.
Trump’s speech had many memorable moments, including a moment of silence for Corey Comperatore. Comperatore was the former fire chief killed during the assassination attempt on Trump on Saturday. Trump paid his respects to Comperatore and his family, and even displayed his fire uniform on stage.
The acceptance speech by Trump was notable in several ways, including breaking the record for the longest nomination acceptance speech, Breitbart reported. Trump spoke for a total of 92 minutes.
Trump often gives lengthy speeches at rallies. However, the long run time of his acceptance speech is particularly notable given that it came less than a week after he was injured in an assassination attempt.
Norah O’Donnell pointed out another interesting aspect of Trump’s record-breaking speech. The record broken by his speech on Thursday was the record he previously set himself. Trump now holds the top three spots for longest convention acceptance speeches between his acceptances in 2024, 2020 and 2016.
Trump critics were quick to disparage the speech and its long run time, comparing the length of the speech to dictators such as Fidel Castro. However, considering Joe Biden’s recent comments that he will try to get more sleep, the stamina on display from Trump offered a remarkable contrast between the two.
