President Donald Trump said renovations to the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool will begin “immediately” after having been damaged by vandals.
“Work will begin immediately on fixing the seriously vandalized Reflecting Pool,” he wrote in a Sunday Truth Social post.
“I just inspected it, and could only say to myself, and those gathered around me, WOW, who would do such a thing? SICK, DERANGED PEOPLE! We will fix it?” he added.
The update comes amid a series of Truth Social posts in which the president blamed damage on vandals who reportedly carved a massive 250-foot gash into the pool’s newly restored surface and poured corrosive chemicals into the water, RSBN previously reported.
President Trump also said that the government would likely have to drain the water to complete repairs.
Multiple individuals have already been arrested for vandalizing the pool, according to the president, who noted that they could face an undisclosed number of years in jail.
