President Donald Trump celebrated his 80th birthday Sunday by announcing a peace agreement with Iran and hosting an Ultimate Fighting Championship event on the South Lawn of the White House as part of the nation’s 250th anniversary celebration.

The president sat cageside alongside First Lady Melania Trump and UFC president Dana White while thousands of spectators watched mixed martial arts bouts in the nation’s capital.

“The UFC at the White House last night was incredible. The weather was scheduled to be horrendous, and it turned out to be PERFECT! So much for weather predicting. The Fighters were outstanding — Bo Nickal, Justin Gaethje, Ciryl Gane, Sean O’Malley, Josh Hokit, Mauricio Ruffy, and Diego Lopes were all unbelievable!” President Trump posted on social media.

“Most people have never seen anything like that kind of human speed and power before. The White House has never looked more beautiful. The setting was unsurpassed! Congratulations to Dana White, and his unbelievable UFC. One of the most exciting days in the History of our fabled White House!” he added.

Fighter Bo Nickal defeated Kyle Daukaus by knockout during one of the evening’s early fights. After the victory, Nickal approached the president and briefly spoke with him cageside.

“I got to thank President Trump for making this happen,” Nickal told the crowd following the win.

Several fighters greeted Trump after their bouts as more than 4,000 attendees surrounded the temporary outdoor arena. The crowd frequently chanted “USA, USA” while applauding active-duty military personnel invited to the event by the president.

War Department Secretary Pete Hegseth greeted service members before the fights, posing for photos and interacting with troops in attendance. Other high-profile attendees included House Speaker Mike Johnson and podcaster Joe Rogan.

The White House UFC event was held as part of broader festivities commemorating America’s upcoming 250th anniversary in 2026.
