President Donald Trump is expected to attend a New York Yankees game in The Bronx on the anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, according to people familiar with the plans.

Sources said Vice President JD Vance will represent the administration at a Ground Zero commemoration in Lower Manhattan, while Trump will take part in a memorial ceremony at the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia.

Later in the day, he is scheduled to travel to his hometown and watch the Yankees host the Detroit Tigers at 7:05 p.m. in a matchup of two leading American League teams.

The sources cautioned that the president’s schedule could still change. Trump, 79, is known for appearing at major sporting events during his presidency. In February, he became the first sitting president to attend the Super Bowl, when the Philadelphia Eagles played the Kansas City Chiefs in New Orleans. The following week, he attended the Daytona 500, where he rode a lap around the track in his presidential limousine, known as “The Beast.”

He has also made appearances at the Saudi-backed LIV Golf tournament, the NCAA wrestling championships in Philadelphia, and multiple UFC and mixed martial arts fights, including events in Newark and Miami earlier this year. Trump has even announced plans to bring a UFC event to the White House.

In 2019, during his first term in office, President Donald Trump attended Game 5 of the World Series in Washington, D.C., where the Nationals faced the Houston Astros. Two years later, after leaving the White House, he attended the 2021 World Series between the Astros and the Atlanta Braves.

Trump announced in 2020 that he had been invited to throw the ceremonial first pitch at a Yankees game, but he later said the appearance was canceled because his attention was directed toward the COVID-19 crisis.

Before entering politics, Trump was also seen at Shea Stadium for Game 7 of the National League Championship Series, where the New York Mets played the St. Louis Cardinals.

Trump previously attended last year’s annual Ground Zero ceremony alongside then-President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, just weeks before winning reelection.
