President Donald Trump made waves on Tuesday when he unexpectedly cut short an interview with NPR’s Steve Inskeep.
An interview that was supposed to last 15 minutes ended up lasting around nine after Inskeep repeatedly interrupted the 45th president to dispute his comments.
After the NPR host blew his chance to respectfully interview Trump after six years of begging him to come on their program, according to NPR themselves, Inskeep could not resist highlighting the fact he was “hung up on.”
What Happened
The reason the call ended so abruptly was because Inskeep turned the interview sideways attempting to throw “gotcha” questions at Trump. He specifically argued with Trump’s comments relating to the 2020 presidential elections and election fraud despite mountainous evidence of fraud found in the swing states.
After President Trump hung up on Inskeep, the host was left with a mouthful just before he had the chance to press Trump on the Jan. 6 riots and other events that took place shortly thereafter at the Capitol, as a means to try to tie him in to the riots.
Trump had no time to waste.
However, just before he wrapped up the call, Trump responded to a question related to his support of Republican candidates in the 2022 elections, and whether belief of electoral fraud would sway him to endorsing any such candidate.
Trump said, “They are going to do whatever they want to do – whatever they have to do, they’re going to do. But the ones that are smart – the ones that know, you take a look at, again. You take a look at how Kari Lake is doing, running for governor. She’s very big on this issue. She’s leading by a lot. People have no idea how big this issue is, and they don’t want it to happen again. It shouldn’t be allowed to happen, and they don’t want it to happen again.”
Inskeep attempted to interrupt, but Trump continued, “And the only way it’s not going to happen again is you have to solve the problem of the presidential rigged election of 2020. So Steve, thank you very much. I appreciate it.”
This NPR interview was clearly biased from the start. Inskeep had no serious intentions of portraying any journalistic integrity the minute he began the call with Trump.
An “analytical” article with a fear-mongering tone was hyperlinked in the beginning of the interview’s write-up, in which the piece included what appeared to sound like a “warning” about what Trump would do to “secure his power.” It claimed he would “do whatever he can to cast aside those who don’t show fealty. That includes threats, bullying and intimidation, like badgering and name-calling.”
The Part the MSM Left Out
Despite the quick ending, the beginning of the call appeared to go much more smoothly.
While the mainstream media was quick to negatively report on Trump’s decision to end the call, they left out a crucial aspect of the interview.
President Trump again made it clear that although he encourages Americans to get vaccinated, he also recognizes that vaccine mandates should not be tolerated.
“The mandate is really hurting our country,” Trump said. “A lot of Americans aren’t standing for it, and it’s hurting our country.”
