In a Wednesday press release, Governor Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., announced the deployment of the Florida State Guard and other personnel to stop Haitian illegal immigrants from coming into the country.
DeSantis wrote that “the circumstances in Haiti” warranted the surge of 250 additional officers to help “supplement the (under-resourced) U.S. Coast Guard’s interdiction efforts.” He noted that “no state has done more” than Florida to assist the Coast Guard, adding, “we cannot have illegal aliens coming to Florida.”
The Guardsmen will head to the Florida Keys with members of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, and the Florida Highway Patrol to assist in Operation Vigilant Sentry. Additionally, those agencies will bring along more seacrafts, helicopters, and surveillance drones.
DeSantis wrote that “immigrants feel empowered” to come to the United States due to the “federal government’s refusal” to enforce the nation’s laws and secure the border. He made clear that a state has “the right and duty to defend its territory and people” when it “faces the possibility of invasion.”
Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) Todd Bensman appeared on Steve Bannon’s War Room to warn about the Biden administration’s intentions for the arriving Haitians.
He said that a “very well-placed” source from the United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agency told him “that the orders are to have the Coast Guard follow the boats to Florida and let them land.”
President Trump posted about the “thousands of people pouring into our Country from Haiti” in a Truth Social post on Thursday. “They are headed to Florida,” he wrote, “But don’t worry, Crooked Joe Biden has everything totally under control.”
