President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that he will nominate former Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe to serve as the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).

Trump shared the news in a statement posted to his Truth Social account on Tuesday.

“I am pleased to announce that former Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe will serve as Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA),” he wrote.

“From exposing fake Russian collusion to be a Clinton campaign operation, to catching the FBl’s abuse of Civil Liberties at the FISA Court, John Ratcliffe has always been a warrior for Truth and Honesty with the American Public. When 51 intelligence officials were lying about Hunter Biden’s laptop, there was one, John Ratcliffe, telling the truth to the American People,” he continued.

House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Chairman Mike Turner, R-Ohio, issued the following statement about Trump selecting Ratcliffe to serve as the 9th Director of the CIA.

“John Ratcliffe served as the Director of National Intelligence and as a member of the House Intelligence Committee and knows what it will take to lead the CIA and counter the serious threats posed by China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea,” Turner wrote.

“John will play a vital role in protecting the American people, bolstering our national security, and supporting U.S. interests and allies abroad,” he continued. “By choosing John, President-elect Trump is taking significant steps to reinforce the United States’ intelligence and security capabilities.”

The news adds to a growing list of announcements regarding the leaders in Trump’s new administration. He also said on Tuesday that he will nominate Fox News host Pete Hegseth serve as the nation’s Secretary of Defense.

“I am honored to announce that I have nominated Pete Hegseth to serve in my Cabinet as The Secretary of Defense. Pete has spent his entire life as a Warrior for the Troops, and for the Country,” Trump posted to Truth Social.

Trump also announced that he will nominate former Arkansas Republican Gov. Mike Huckabee to serve as the nation’s Ambassador to Israel.

“Mike has been a great public servant, Governor, and Leader in Faith for many years,” Trump said in a statement. “He loves Israel, and the people of Israel, and likewise, the people of Israel love him. Mike will work tirelessly to bring about Peace in the Middle East!”
