Reality TV star backs Trump to tackle fentanyl crisis after son’s tragic death

Reality TV star from the hit show “Pawn Stars,” Rick Harrison, praised President Trump’s administration for tackling the fentanyl crisis following the tragic passing of his son last year.

Breitbart reported that Harrison praised President Trump’s administration for closing the southern border and halting the flow of harmful drugs into the country. NBC News reported that the U.S. recorded a staggering 87,000 drug overdose deaths from October 2023 to September 2024.

His plans to tackle the fentanyl crisis didn’t just stop at closing the borders but also imposing tariffs on goods coming into the country from Canada and Mexico.

According to NBC News, President Trump holds Canada, China, and Mexico accountable for the sweeping spread of contraband drugs and, during a joint address to Congress in March had said, “They’ve allowed fentanyl to come into our country at levels never seen before,” and added, “killing hundreds of thousands of our citizens and many very young, beautiful people, destroying families.”

Harrison’s family is one of those who have experienced first-hand the tragic aftermath of contraband drugs. Last year, Breitbart reported that Harrison’s son had passed away at the age of 39 due to a fentanyl overdose.

At the time, Harrison had pleaded, “The fentanyl crisis in this country must be taken more seriously. It seems it is just flowing over the borders, and nothing is being done about it. We must do better.” During this time, President Trump had personally called Harrison to offer his condolences and make a promise to do what he could to stop the crisis.

More than a year later, with President Trump back in office, Harrison has praised President Trump for closing the southern border. He told Fox News, “Closing the border was absolutely amazing,” and added, “That’s where … that’s where it’s all coming from.” He also issued a stern warning for those selling the narcotics.

Fox News reported, “I want anyone selling fentanyl to go to jail for the rest of their life. They’re selling poison. They’re killing people.” President Trump’s administration continues to work hard to protect the lives of all American citizens with secure borders.
