The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has launched an investigation into a December 2022 shooting threat that was aimed at Students for Life Action (SFLAction) in Omaha, Nebraska.
According to a statement from SFLAction, the FBI’s move to investigate the event comes months after pro-life activists received a threatening note at the St. John Paul II Newman Center that threatened to “shoot up” the center with “AR-14 rifles.”
Via the SFLAction’s December 2022 report:
“In yet another threat of violence from pro-abortion supporters claiming to be a part of the domestic terrorist group “Jane’s Revenge,” the Students for Life Action (SFLAction) team in Nebraska found a note promising gun violence this morning when they showed up to host a political training. The handwritten flyer threatened to “shoot up” the Pro-Life Generation if Students for Life of America’s (SFLA) Campaign for Abortion Free Cities initiative succeeded in shutting down late-term abortion facilities in the state.”
Per the Nebraska Examiner, another note was also left locally at the Christ Community Church, and the FBI is now offering a $15,000 reward for anyone who has information that could lead to the anonymous writer of the letter, who signed the notes, “Sincerely, Jane’s Revenge.”
“Unfortunately, as the FBI seems to be turning a blind eye towards many crimes committed against the pro-life movement, reports also show that such violence is on the rise. A report by the Crime Prevention Research Center indicates that ‘after the Dobbs decision was leaked, there was over 22 times more violence directed against pro-life groups than pro-choice organizations,’” SFLAction stated.
RSBN reached out to SFLAction for a current statement on the situation, and they responded with a comment from their grassroots political coordinator, Titus Folks:
“Half a year later, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has decided to do their job and investigate the threats that endangered the lives of our students, team members, and my own family. While I’m thankful it appears that the work is finally being started in earnest, why wasn’t this very violent threat considered serious enough to be time sensitive?”
In December, following the initial incident, Kristan Hawkins, the president of Students for Life and SFLAction, tweeted:
“…We are headed towards tragedy if AG Merrick Garland continues to refuse to act to protect peaceful pro-lifers from pro-abortion terrorist groups. Sadly, the incendiary comments of leaders like Hillary Clinton yesterday comparing pro-lifers to the Taliban…is case in point the poisoned political climate being deliberately fostered by corporate abortion and their allies.”
