Leading Republicans have issued dire warnings of tremendous chaos and calamity at the southern border as the Biden administration moves to repeal Trump-era policy, Title 42.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., condemned Joe Biden after seeing a Fox drone video of a line of hundreds of illegal migrants crossing into Brownsville, Texas, on Sunday, saying military personnel are needed at the border to try to control the surge that will occur in the coming days as Title 42 expires.
“This is what Joe Biden is doing to our country,” the congresswoman wrote on Twitter. “We should have our military at the border stopping the imminent invasion coming later this week when Title 42 lifts. This is already unsustainable and is a true national security crisis!”
Kari Lake described the influx of illegal immigrants at the border as an “INVASION of the United States of America.”
Political commentator Charlie Kirk published a harrowing video on Twitter of 30,000 migrants who illegally crossed the Rio Grande just last week, foreshadowing the chaos that will come when Title 42 is repealed on May 11th.
“30,000 illegals have crossed the Rio Grande in just the last week at this one river crossing,” he wrote. “This is on the American side as they ditch clothes and extra belongings before heading into the interior. This will get even worse on May 11th with the end of Title 42.”
Multiple states and cities across the country are already feeling the effects of the surge, including New York City, which is “retrofitting airplane hangars at JFK airport and leasing out unused college dorms to deal with all the illegals that are about to arrive because of Title 42,” according to Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colo.
In preparation for the wave of illegal crossings, Gov. Greg Abbott, R-Texas, announced Monday that the state’s Tactical Border Force, comprised of more than 500 Texas National Guard personnel, will be deployed to “intercept, to repel, and to turn back migrants who are trying to enter Texas illegally,” Business Insider reported.
According to a press release, Abbott said:
“With the ending of Title 42 on Thursday, President Biden is laying down the welcome mat to people across the entire world, but Texas is deploying our new Texas Tactical Border Force. The Texas National Guard is loading Blackhawk helicopters and C-130s and deploying specially trained soldiers for the Texas Tactical Border Force, who will be deployed to hotspots all along the border to help intercept and repel large groups of migrants trying to enter Texas illegally. The Texas Tactical Border Force will bolster our Operation Lone Star efforts to secure the Texas border amid the chaos caused by President Biden’s elimination of Title 42.”
The Biden administration also announced last week the deployment of 1,500 U.S. troops to the southern border. However, the troops “will not be performing law enforcement functions or interacting with immigrants, or migrants,” according to White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre, as mentioned by AP News.
