Republicans and America First allies are standing resolutely by President Donald Trump as Monday’s “hush money” in New York commences, voicing their support for the leader of their party during a critical election season.
Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, who is also the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, reminded Americans on X that District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s case against Trump was “based on two faulty concepts.”
He explained that the two concepts were “1. The word of convicted liar Michael Cohen. 2. A shaky legal theory making a misdemeanor a felony. Complete sham.”
Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., wrote on social media, “Upstate New York and the North Country stand with President Trump!”
Another Republican congressman, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (Ga.), also voiced her support for Trump, sharing the president’s statements to the press on Monday morning when he called the trial “an assault on America.”
Greene wrote, “Yes it is!”
On Monday, the Trump campaign posted a powerful video underscoring the legal persecution that the president is facing in New York. The ad was interspersed with clips of the president’s motorcade heading into the heart of the city he helped build.
“They want to take away my freedom because I will never let them take away your freedoms,” Trump is heard saying in the ad.
Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., reposted the ad and commented, “We have your back, Mr. President!”
Outside the Manhattan Criminal Court, grassroots supporters also rallied in support of President Trump, waving American flags and Trump flags. Footage from RSBN showed one woman’s sign that read, “Witch Hunt Banana Republic.”
President Trump’s criminal trial in New York City is set to last for several weeks with proceedings expected to take place four days a week, per CBS News. Trump described the trial as “Election Interference” heading into Monday’s jury selection and said that not only would he be fighting for himself, “but, much more importantly, I will be fighting for our Country.”
